Chuck Ragan’s “Glory” and “Rodderdam” streaming / Revival tour to return this fall

Chuck Ragan SideOneDummy is gearing up for the release of Chuck Ragan‘s new solo full length Gold Country on September 1st. The label now has two songs from the record online streaming, you can check out “Glory” and “Rodderdam” at the label’s website. Chuck comments in the press release:

We recorded the record at Flying Whale Studio up on this six acre mining claim called Arrowhead Mines. It’s an old local mine that was pretty well known back in the day. The record is just another page in the book and another chapter in life and it’s documenting where we are in that moment of time. Right now Gold Country is what I’ve lived for, everything I’ve worked to achieve and hold sacred and everything I strive to get home to.

SideOne has also revealed that the Revival Tour, which Ragan headlined last year with the frontmen of Avail, Against Me!, Lucero and others, will return this fall. There’s no word yet on who will perform or the routing, but the label is now calling it an annual event.

Sunny Day Real Estate reunites for tour; reissues planned

Sunny Day Real Estate Confirming the rumors of a couple of months ago, highly influential band Sunny Day Real Estate has announced a month-long U.S. reunion tour. The band will kick it off with the tour’s one date in Canada, September 17 at Vancouver, BC’s Commodore Ballroom, before wrapping it up October 16 in their hometown of Seattle at the Paramount Theatre.

Additionally, their label Sub Pop will be reissuing the band’s first two albums, 1994’s Diary and 1995’s LP2, on both CD and LP formats. The albums will be remastered and include rare bonus tracks, as well as newly written liner notes. The release date is September 15.

Widely considered one of the most seminal acts of the emo movement, Sunny Day Real Estate’s Diary is considered a classic of the genre. The band first broke up in 1995 before the release of LP2 and reunited in 1997, releasing two more studio albums before disbanding again in 2001 – 1998’s How It Feels to Be Something On and 2000’s The Rising Tide. In the meantime, frontman Jeremy Enigk has released several solo albums and also fronts the Fire Theft, which features fellow SDRE members William Goldsmith and Nate Mendel. Both Goldsmith and Mendel have also spent time in Foo Fighters, with Mendel still a current member of that band.
