The Killers announce “indefinite hiatus”

The Killers will be going on an indefinite hiatus after their upcoming Melbourne, Australia performance on February 21st. The show is the last of a run which will feature performances in Asia and Australia. Guitarist Dave Keuning told the Associated Press:

I’m not sure if people are aware of it but these are probably our last shows for a while. We haven’t had a break in quite a while. It’s just been touring and making records and on and on and on. It’s been like six years just kind of connected together. It’s like people just expect us to do that non-stop till we die, but we just want a little bit of time off, just to be myself and do what I want to do for a little bit.

Ian MacDougall returns to the Riverboat Gamblers following accident

Though his future with the band was uncertain after his nasty bicycle accident, guitarist Ian MacDougall has apparently returned to the Riverboat Gamblers. MacDougall was hit by a car when riding home. He sustained some pretty heavy injuries including a broken hip, a broken wrist and hemorrhaging under the skull along with many lacerations, torn ligaments, bruises and and scrapes. He was rushed by ambulance to Brackenridge hospital in Austin and stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for two days.

He spoke to Austin 360 saying:

As soon as they put on a hard cast where I could move my fingers I asked them, ‘Can I please have some freedom with my fingers?’ I totally had to work them out one by one because they hadn’t moved, so when I went home I tried it with a guitar and could make a chord sound. I thought, ‘I could totally play a show right now.

Ian performed with the band this past Saturday in Austin,
