Polar Bear Club, Recover, The Receiving End Of Sirens at Skatefest 2010

Skatefest 2010 has announced the initial lineup for the upcoming 2010 edition of the festival. Set for May 8th in Worcester, MA, the lineup currently includes The Receiving End Of Sirens, Recover, The Dear Hunter, Polar Bear Club, Envy on the Coast, VersaEmerge, All the Day Holiday and Bad Rabbits.

The event has also announced a charity ticket auction. The auction features a VIP ticket package to the festival. 100% of the auction’s proceeds with be donated to Help Mend a Heart, the organization dedicated to raising money for medical care for Maureen, the mother of New Found Glory’s Jordan Pundik. Included in the package are a pair of tickets and all access passes guaranteeing the winners side-stage seats during TREOS’s set, a meet and greet with the band, a signed Skatefest poster, and an SJC Custom Drums drum head signed by every band on the lineup. WaveGroup, best known for its long history in music game development, including its contributions to the original Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, today announced licensing agreements with major recording artists, including renowned guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, to distribute their music in Rock Band.

ZONARIA: Video Footage From Studio, First Headlining Tour Posted Online

Swedish death/black metal band ZONARIA has completed the songwriting process for its new album and will soon enter the Abyss studio in Sweden with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, SONIC SYNDICATE, HYPOCRISY, CENTINEX, CARNAL FORGE) to begin recording the effort for a spring/summer release.

Chinese Telephones and Obsoletes to play one off reunion show in January

Chinese Telephones Chinese Telephones have announced a one-off reunion show with The Obsoletes on January 29th in Milwaukee at Cafe LuLu. The show was originally planned as a surprise birthday party for a long-time friend and roadie of the bands, before news of the event was leaked to the internet. The Daniel James Gang, which feature an ex-member of Chinese Telephones posted information on their show via-Twitter and Facebook today, making the show official.

The band split up in late 2008 after releasing the critically acclaimed Chinese Telephones via It’s Alive Records.

Ex-SENTENCED Drummer’s THE MAN-EATING TREE Begins Recording Debut Album

THE MAN-EATING TREE, the new atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE, has entered Mastervox Studio in Oulu, Finland to begin recording its debut album with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS).
