Interviews: Patrick Stickles (Titus Andronicus)

Titus Andronicus hails from Glen Rock, New Jersey. And while it’s easy for critics to attach “E Street Band” references, anyone that’s spent time listening to Titus can hear pure punk rock vitriol oozing from every pore of this young quintet. Laced with driving rhythms, layers of fuzzed out guitars, twinkling keys, and self-depreciating guttural howls, their newest album, The Monitor, showcases a band just starting to realize their supreme songwriting capabilities. The band’s ringleader, Patrick Stickles, recently took the time to chat with Punknews interviewer Michael Dauphin.

Sound and Fury Festival shut down following riot

A substantial brawl broke out yesterday at Sound and Fury Festival in Santa Barbara, CA, causing the rest of the show to be cancelled. The festival, which had gone on the previous two days without incident, was shut down after an attendee rode a motorcycle into the pit during Backtrack‘s set. Apparently security chased the motorcyclist out of the building, but not before he rode through the merch and backstage areas. Many other attendees apparently followed the action outside, where fights began to break out between them and festival security, and a full trash can was thrown at the guards.

The Ventura County Star has a story regarding the incident here, and Alternative Press has a detailed account with photos and videos here.

Were any of our readers in attendance? What did you see? Leave your accounts in the comments.
