Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Suicide Machines, more scheduled for Fest 9

It's still full of beards. A full-page ad in the latest issue of Razorcake has revealed the bulk of the lineup for this year’s Fest in Gainesville, FL. Happening October 29-31, the weekend will be headlined by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and The Suicide Machines, along with scheduled performances from Torche, Frank Turner, Leatherface, Smoke or Fire, A Wilhelm Scream, Cobra Skulls, Strike Anywhere, Kylesa, Dead to Me, Teenage Bottlerocket, Heartsounds, Tim Barry, Toys That Kill, and several others.

Studio material from forgetters on the way

forgetters forgetters, the latest project from Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil) and original Against Me! drummer Kevin Mahon, will soon be releasing their first studio material in the form of a self-titled, double 7″.

The two-record set is slated for a September 21, 2010 release through the band’s own label, dubbed Too Small to Fail Records. Samples of the four tracks can be streamed at this page. It’s also available for pre-order over at Vinyl Collective.

Beasts of No Nation (Trial By Fire, Darkest Hour, The Explosion) unveil 3 Songs

Beasts of No Nation have debuted three new songs. The band is a new punk/hardcore outfit which features Mike Schleibaum of Darkest Hour, Jason Yawn of Trial By Fire, Kevin Lamiell of Majority Rule and Trial By Fire, and Andrew Black of The Explosion. The band is currently wrapping up work on their self-produced debut full length. They will play their inaugural show Thursday: August 26th, 2010 at DC9 in Washington DC with Domino Team and SEAS.

F*cked Up: “Year of the Ox”

Fucked Up Fucked Up have posted a stream of the A-side to their next long-form 12-inch single, “Year of the Ox.” Due out September 28, 2010, the album is the latest in the band’s series which also includes Year of the Dog, Year of the Pig and Year of the Rat. The song is a 13-minute piece featuring a string section and vocalist Zola Jesus which Matador Records described as a “majestic orchestral piece.”

Tours: Pennywise / Riverboat Gamblers (Canada)

Pennywise and Riverboat Gamblers will be touring Canada together in September.

The Gamblers continue to support 2009’s Underneath the Owl, while Pennywise last released Reason to Believe in 2008, which would end up being their last recorded output with former vocalist Jim Lindberg. Ignite frontman Zoli Teglas replaced Lindberg back in February, who recently resurfaced with a new project dubbed The Black Pacific.

Snapcase confirmed for Fun Fun Fun Fest

Snapcase Though the official festival lineup isn’t scheduled to be released until next month, reunited hardcore pioneers Snapcase have confirmed that they’ll be performing at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, happening November 6 and 7 in Austin, TX.

The influential band reunited earlier this year for a hometown show in Buffalo, NY as well as a European tour. They’re also scheduled to perform at this year’s Riot Fest, happening October 6-10 in Chicago, IL.

Bigwig: “Sliver (Nirvana)”

BigwigBigwig have posted another rare track. The new song is the band’s cover of Nirvana‘s “Sliver.” The band explained:

This is a cover we recorded years ago. It was recorded in a small PA basement for a “Nirvana tribute compilation” released in 2004…..It will be included in a “covers” EP (no release date yet) including every song Bigwig has covered and recorded.
