Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I’m Adam White and I’ll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here’s what got the community talking this week:
- The lineup to The Fest 9 broke. Look for the annual gathering to feature Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Suicide Machines, Frank Turner, Leatherface, Strike Anywhere, Teenage Bottlerocket and many others.
- Popular (I assume?) crunkcore act Brokencyde responded to fake allegations of various despicable activity (not related to their sound).
- The Gaslight Anthem are taking Fake Problems and The Menzingers out on what may be the most Punknews-reader friendly tour ever.
- The resurrected and slightly renamed alt-ska-dub-rock-etc act Sublime with Rome are set to
- Grammatically challenged Epitaph band I Am Ghost called it a career after six years.
- Solo artist Lights released a cover of Rancid‘s “Fall Back Down.” I’m still waiting for someone notable to crack out a really badass cover of “Black Lung.”
- Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves have completed Love: The Movie, which documents the band’s trip to see the Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil production.
With that we hand over this Sunday evening to you, the Punknews community. From that glorious, likely bearded rabble we’ve see the creation of everything from message boards and Punknews fantasy sports leagues to even a band or two. So talk amongst yourselves and we’ll see you Monday…
