It’s hard to think of another band that is as heavily criticized as Against Me! for every decision they’ve made as a band. Whether it’s signing to FAT, or to Sire, or releasing a new record, or filming videos, or playing larger venues, or polishing their sound, or an assortment of other things, Against Me! seems to be the go-to punk band that “lost their way.”
Last week, Punknews interviewer Ollie Ottoman snuck out of work in the middle of the day to have a phone conversation with Tom Gabel. For all the slack the man gets, on the phone he sounds calm, articulate, and just in good spirits. Having just finished a tour with the Silversun Pickups, I caught up with him to discuss their new album, the recent changes the band has undergone, and why the addition of a new keyboard player involved a bag of porno.
Comeback Kid have posted the first new song from their next album. The record is titled Symptoms and Cures and is due out August 31, 2010 via Victory/Distort. It is the follow-up to Broadcasting… which was released in 2007.
Check out the song on their MySpace page.

In a new interview with the Punk Site, Big D and the Kids Table had some words about their next album and what to expect from it:
We also have a new record coming out soon called the Damned, The Dumb and the Delirious. It’s going to be total ska-punk and it should be out in the fall….I think this is going to be really fast, loud; I don’t think there’s going to be any slower songs on it. It’s going to be really balls to the wall. We just wanted to do that because we realized those songs are more kind of fun to play live.
Check out the interview here. The band released Fluent in Stroll in 2009.

Brokencyde has responded to the coverage they have been receiving which alleges any number of crimes perpetrated by the band and based on a fake TMZ website set up in a prank. Many sites ran the story before it was revealed as a hoax. They said this:
Usually the rumors about Brokencyde are funny and we can just laugh them off, but this time they’ve completely crossed the line. To have someone accuse us of such horrendous crimes is upsetting to everyone in the band. The members of Brokencyde have families, brothers, sisters, and some of us have children of our own. So to have our names dragged through the mud because people have nothing better to do than create lies and spread rumors is complete bullshit. I don’t understand how such high profile publications can lower themselves to be no better than those supermarket tabloid rags and publish a story without a even a fact check!
How would those same reporters feel if someone posted a story calling them a child molester or rapist? What would their loved ones think? I find it sad that these publications publish lies without any consideration or recourse for the way this affects people and their daily lives. Our goal since the day we started was to make music with our friends and hopefully put a smile on people’s faces.
Brokencyde are currently in Hollywood, CA wrapping up the recording of the group’s sophomore album, which is expected to hit stores in late 2010 through BreakSilence Recordings.
