Paul Gray, Bassist for Slipknot was arrested Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa for possession of marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and for failure to obey a traffic device.



Billboard.com reports that Gray ran a red light and collided with another car as he was cruising through the intersection. When officers arrived at the accident site not only did they find Gray speaking incoherently next to his mangled Porsche–they also found marijuana, cocaine and two syringes. A police spokesperson said that Gray failed two sobriety tests on the scene and was then taken to a police station where he consented to a urine test. Gray posted bond and will be arraigned June 10.


Slipknot is scheduled to work on its third album, the follow-up to Iowa, in the coming weeks.

Rob Tujillo, former bass player for Suicidal Tendencies and Ozzy was recently announced by Metallica as the replacement for ex-bassist Jason Newsted. Rob will appear on the new album, St. Anger, currently slated for release on June 10th. He will also join them on their new Summer Sanitarium tour with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.


Meanwhile, Newsted continues to work with veteran metal band Voivod. Their new self-titled album, which Newsted produced will be out March 4th. You can find it on Newsteds Surfdog imprint Chophouse Records.

I do not know what it is about Axl and concerts in Canada. Apparently, his plane was delayed, forcing him to miss the opening show of the new GunsNRoses tour kicking off in Vancouver.

Strangely enough, the promoters let the first two bands play before announcing that Axl had not made it to the show. This pissed off a lot of fans. 10 people were arrested as riot police stormed the area.

Marylin Manson will host a one hour special of the Canadian MuchMusics USA Metal Show called “Uranium”. You can catch the show on October 31st at 9pm EST on MuchMusic.

As a side benefit, Manson requested everyone who is at the show dress in their best “vaudville/cabret/fetish” outfit. Manson will pick the best dressed and that person will get a signed Watercolor by Marilyn.

MTV is giving Courtney Love complete control of MTV2 this weekend. She will be the VJ and she will pick the music. Whatever she wants, she gets.


I just have one question…. Whose butt does she have her head up?!?!? I mean, come on…. What has she done lately? Other than sue a lot of people, absolutely nothing, yet MTV loves her. In the grand scheme of things, I will not loose any sleep over this, but she makes me sick. YECH!

In the almost to funny to be real category, ex-Nirvana bandmates Grohl and Novoselics legal batte with Courtney has take a peculiar turn. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Grohl and Novoselic have asked for Love to submit to a psychiatric examination, in hopes it will prove their claim that she “is irrational, mercurial, self-centered, unmanageable, inconsistent and unpredictable” in her business dealings.

Alice In Chains lead singer and guitarist, Layne Staley was found dead in his apartment this past weekend. He was 34 years old. Preliminary reports suggest a drug overdose may have been the cause of death.

Kurt Cobain has a new song, sort of… He can be found on a reissue of a 1990 track by Seattle experimental rockers Earth. It is one of four bonus tracks on a rereleased version of Earths 1995 Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars EP.

Tommy Lee drops Methods of Mayhem and releases his new album under his own name. Guests include Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and Deftones singer Chino Moreno.


On a side note, Kid Rock was recently quoted saying, “Hey Tommy! Im making home movies with Pam now!”

Original Exodus frontman Paul Baloff 41, died Saturday after suffering a massive stroke on Thursday. Even if you are not familiar with the band, you might know another founding member, Kirk Hammett of Metallica. Together they released the Exodus 1982 Demo, Whipping Queen and Death and Domination.
