Rolling Stone assembles “The Indie Rock Universe” with Fall Out Boy, F*cked Up, Boredoms, Against Me

Rolling Stone has put together a neat little feature called “The Indie Rock Universe.” The article purports to shine a light on any number of subgenres in the “indie rock” scene, from “Ancestral Planets” like Fugazi, Nirvana, Pixies, to “Spazmodica” like Les Savy Fav and Parts & Labor to the “Angry Red Planet” of Against Me! and Ted Leo to “Mall-Deraan” of Fall Out Boy and Paramore.

Along with some weird paintings denoting each “planet” each representative band includes streaming music so it’s actually not a terrible way to find something if you like it. Unfortunately, there is no “art history grad to english” translation, so you’ll just have to guess that “East Accordionica” means Gogol Bordello.

You can find it here.
