The Weakerthans’ “Night Windows” wins ECHO Songwriting Prize

Winnipeg’s Weakerthans have claimed another award with Reunion Tour. The band’s song “Night Windows” has claimed the $5,000.00 ECHO Songwriting Prize. The track beat out four other finalists including Veda Hille’s “LuckLucky”, Wintersleep’s “Weighty Ghost”, Sandro Perri’s “Double Suicide” and Socalled’s “You Are Never Alone.” It follows up last year’s winner, Toronto hip-hop artist Abdominal and his track “Pedal Pusher.” The ECHO winner is decided by public voting.

Earlier in the year the band won “artist of the year” at the inagural Verge Music Awards, claiming a $25,000 prize. They were nominated but did not win the Polaris Music Prize for this year.
